About My Clients

My clients have anxiety, depression, and trauma from adoption, abuse, and significant trauma. My clients want a safe place to discuss identity and trauma histories. None of these topics are taboo in your therapy room because they are so relevant to your lived experiences at work, with family, and with others. I see people from an attachment and relational lens and understand the complexities of early childhood and traumatic experiences

My Background and Approach

My approach and the processing we do in therapy is existential, liberating, and healing. I believe the therapy relationship is unique and special. It takes time to build trust, and that is okay. My therapy room is safe and warm. I’ve worked in hospitals, emergency rooms, crisis settings, and private practice. I’ve also worked with those facing terminal illness, survivors of abuse, trafficking, complex trauma, childhood abuse survivors, and addiction for over 15 years . I have worked with minoritized people my entire career and have an understanding of how culture, family, religion, and other experiences have an impact in our lives. I have a MA in Counseling. I have special training in addiction. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC). I use a variety of approaches and theories including psychodynamic, narrative, Rational Emotive Behavioral, existentialism, feminist, and liberation therapy.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that healing is a process. I believe that the way we grew up, our relationship or lack of relationship with caretakers is vital to attachment. I believe that our ethnicity, our culture, racism, violence and trauma can cause wounds that are deep and raw. I am an adopted therapist who grew up in a diverse home. I come from a diverse background and identity and use these experiences to shape how I view people. While I don’t focus therapy on me, it sometimes feels safer to have a therapist who understands and who respects these significant experiences. I am part of the LGBTQ+ community and am affirming. I’m am also an advocate and public speaker and trainer on topics of racial identity, oppression, cultural responsiveness, LGBTQ+ competency, substance use, and trauma. I enjoy the company of my animals which consist of pups, cats, and a bearded dragon named Chipotle.
