My name is Jennifer. I specialize in complex trauma, addiction, adoption, and abuse histories and these are the only cases I work with.

Trauma in childhood can have a profound impact on personality and attachment. Any type of trauma , especially trauma that leads to PTSD, can cause many uncomfortable and scary symptoms. The way I approach trauma, is that we need to instill positive coping. With time, we can talk about what you need to process, but I am careful and cautious with making sure that you are safe and feeling grounded before our session is over.
Are you adopted? Are you considering adoption and have questions or concerns about how to work with the child’s past? I have worked with clients who have had trouble reconciling the relationship with birth and/or adopted family or have self doubt and self esteem issues related to being adopted. I am an adopted adult and have worked in the foster care population and with adoptees for 15 years.
I’ve been working in addiction for nearly 13 years. I understand opiate, stimulant, and alcohol addiction well. I also work with loved ones who have lost someone to overdose or addiction.
Trauma makes your body feel like it’s on fire. Abuse, domestic violence, trafficking, and other significant traumas affect us physically. A therapist that sits with you in your trauma and can be the empowerment you need until you are able to cope is my great honor. Trauma recovery is about healing the deep and hidden wounds that you e been carrying.
I have an understanding of the impact of early attachments and experiences on current functioning.
How we attach and bond with caretakers and people is learned at a very young age. Attachment theories are profound for issues relating to adoption and trauma.
You are the expert in your lived experiences. You will be validated and understood in therapy. Your culture and upbringing will be honored.
