About My Clients
You want to be successful and “have it all together” but you are struggling with confidence, coping with stress, or taking care of your own needs. You might have an idea of what you want in life but don’t know how to get there. I help insightful adults who are struggling to balance multiple roles and responsibilities get clarity on what matters most, see what’s getting in the way of living the life you want, and learn how to find meaning, purpose, and peace.
My Background and Approach
My approach to therapy is strengths based and focuses on resilience and empowerment. You are the expert in your life, and your cultural identities are of the utmost importance. My goal is to create a safe space in which you feel authentically seen and heard. Your values will inform our sessions as we work to better understand you, the context of your life, and what you need to heal, grow, or change. I am genuine and and invite you to be your authentic self. I value cultural humility and competence, practice allyship, and enjoy compassionately supporting people to better understand and affirm themselves. I primarily utilize mindfulness and compassion practices along with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also work from a feminist/multicultural and client-centered framework. This means that I believe you are the expert in your life and your values guide our work. I am a licensed psychologist and Certified Mindful Self-Compassion teacher.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I strive for cultural humility and am committed to always learning, growing, and supporting social justice movements. I practice strong advocacy and allyship for LGBTQ+ folkx and racial justice, backed by many years of training and experience personally and professionally. I believe: There is a difference between depression and oppression (i.e. if you’ve been treated badly, it makes sense that you have felt angry, sad, or anxious). You are not the discrimination, oppression, trauma, or pain that you may have experienced. You are worthy of love and affirmation exactly as you are. Therapy is for you to address what matters to you. If you are not being affirmed, I am here to support you as you make sense of what is happening in your world and make decisions about how you want to live your best life aligned with what matters most to you. If you are affirmed in your life but want to work with a therapist with whom you can be open and feel safe, I’m here for that too.
