About My Clients
I specialize in helping people with all relationships, from difficulties in communication to helping clients in verbally abusive relationships or with narcissistic partners. I am experienced in helping couples and women/womxn with sexual difficulties, and I also work with life transitions, divorce/breakup recovery, religious trauma, and self-worth issues. I work with adult individuals and couples of all types: dating, married, straight, LGBTQ, particularly if they're ready to work on themselves!
My Background and Approach
I employ EFT (Emotion Focused Therapy) with couples, and use an eclectic approach with individuals based on what works best for my clients. I use attachment theory, family systems theory, and CBT (reading, homework, journaling, prescribing real-life interventions) where appropriate. And though I was trained in a very clinical-focused university, I tend to use more relational and experiential approaches. I find that some clients do better when we spend sessions outside; some clients prefer the comfort of my office, and some love the convenience of telehealth. I am willing to go out of my comfort zone to find what works best for my clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am aware of my privilege and believe in using it to support less empowered groups and individuals. I advocate for LGBTQ individuals and clients, and enjoy providing a safe space for non-traditional couples to work through struggles. I support suicide prevention agencies in tackling the high suicide rate in Colorado. I love helping survivors of any type of abuse or oppression learn to identify the abuse and become more aware and empowered in order to heal and become an advocate for others.
