As a student, you may be seeing a change in your own attendance and level of motivation. As a parent, you may be noticing a change in social behavior and resistance to feedback. Our first instinct may be frustration or retreating further into apathy. A shift in priorities and motivation can indicate underlying stressors or coping with life changes. Let’s move beyond punishing ourselves and get to the root of the issue.

Have you arrived at the point where you don’t have the energy to keep moving? Have you been at that point for a long time? Depression and anxiety lead us to a place where we are physically and mentally exhausted. We can feel as though we no longer have control over our thoughts and feelings. Let’s work together to identify those symptoms and manage them, step by step. Our time will be dedicated to processing these experiences and skill building.

Trauma can be a single frightening experience, and it can also be a period of chronic stress in your life. Perhaps you haven’t called it trauma in the past, but there is space here for your grief, loss, racial trauma, abuse, and neglect. You show incredible strength, and you also deserve rest.
