About My Clients
I specialize in: childhood sexual abuse, incest, sexual assault, rape, sexual harassment, domestic violence, and intimate partner violence. Trauma can fracture who you are as a person. It can make you feel unlike yourself, distant from others, and changed forever. Perhaps for you that looks like flashbacks, nightmares, feeling hopeless, anxious, having low self-esteem. There can be many responses to trauma, and all of them are justified. I can help you cope and heal from the impacts trauma.
What I Specialize In
I work with adults impacted by sexual and relationship trauma. Generally, providing some tools to manage your symptoms is a good start, in addition to sharing some knowledge about the dynamics of trauma on the brain and body. Then, if appropriate, we can go deeper into the ways the trauma has impacted you and figure out together how to put the pieces back together. I also do EMDR with many of my clients. We will build resilience, access your strengths, and free you from your past. Learning to understand your trauma, manage symptoms, change unhealthy relationship patterns, and increase self-esteem can help you cultivate the life and meaningful relationships that you want.
My Values as a Therapist
I have the best job in the world. Connecting with my clients is an experience I will always cherish and have gratitude for. I believe it is never too late to heal, grow, or change. I am extremely passionate about these topics and in my personal life I do my best to work to dismantle the structures that uphold violence and hatred in our communities. I believe in being a therapist AND an activist and that someone cannot be a safe therapist without acknowledging systemic oppression. I assist clients to explore how systems are impacting their health and how to disrupt this impact, rather than adjust to living beneath it.
