About My Clients

I am experienced in working with adults and older adults and am also interested in working with adolescents. I focus on health/medical anxiety, chronic pain, living with chronic health conditions, cultural adjustment, acculturation, and issues of racial/ethnic identity. I also offer support for egg freezing and being a solo parent by choice. I specialize in Asian and Asian American individuals or those in marginalized communities. I also conduct therapy in Mandarin.

My Background and Approach

I was recently Behavioral Health Consultant Psychologist at USC Student Health and Senior Counseling Psychologist at University of California, Irvine Counseling Center and an Assistant Professor in the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program at Alliant International University (Alhambra, California). I received my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of South Dakota and trained at VA Puget Sound – American Lake, working with individuals with chronic pain, older adults, and integrated primary care. I then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the San Diego VA where I specialized in integrated primary care and tobacco cessation. I use structured approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help you connect with your values and examine your thoughts. I am also interested in including cultural healing and mindfulness practices with therapy. I use a directed approach to work alongside you to help you reach your therapeutic goals.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am passionate about social justice and believe in advocating on behalf of those who are marginalized, underrepresented, or voiceless. When I can, I use my privilege to lend my voice to those who do not have a seat at the table. I am committed to working with individuals from marginalized, underserved, and/or underprivileged groups. I particularly see a great need for services within the Asian and Asian American community, and I value the opportunity to work with members of this community. Traveling feeds my soul; I have visited more than 20 countries. I enjoy learning about other cultures and lifestyles through my travels. Hiking and being out in nature also help to ground me and bring me peace.
