About My Clients

My aim is to provide a space for you to feel safe. A space where you are important and your words are trusted. A space to be heard, with dignity and without judgement. If you are feeling stuck, lonely, frustrated, or sad in your life or in your relationship(s) you don't need to go through it alone. I see both individuals and couples, including poly and kink. Whether you are dealing with complex trauma or just feeling a little off; nobody’s problems are too big or too small for talk therapy.

My Background and Approach

I graduated from the University of Notre Dame with my undergraduate degree in 2003 and I graduated from Rutgers University with my Masters in Social Work in 2007. I have over 13 years of experience working as a therapist and program director. I practice from a feminist perspective, which means that I look at therapy as a partnership (rather than a hierarchy). You are the expert in your own life and it is my job to listen and support you. It is a nonjudgmental, non-victim blaming, strengths-based, and client centered approach. My clinical approach is eclectic and client centered, utilizing a mix of strategies based on the needs of the client. I have the most experience with cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and emotionally focused therapy.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I come from a multiethnic family (I am Puerto Rican and white) and I have created my own multiethnic family. I have personal experience with adoption both transnational and domestic (on the adoptee side). I also have personal experience with co-parenting and blended families (on the parenting side). I am a queer cisgender woman. I am committed to racial and social justice and believe that part of the work in therapy is acknowledging the systems of oppression at play in our environment; including the medical model of mental health. I am committed to continuing to research, read, remain curious and humble both in and out of session.
