About My Clients
I provide telehealth psychotherapy to clients seeking help with regulating their emotions, those struggling with managing anxiety, and those who are suffering from the effects of trauma. I can help you reduce suffering by finding the roots of emotional pain, changing unhealthy patterns, and by increasing skills for healthy coping. I can provide support through change, and know how difficult change can be. I teach Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills of Mindfulness & Emotion Regulation.
My Background and Approach
I have been a therapist in a variety of settings since 2002 including crisis clinics, psychosocial rehabilitation, psychiatric hospitals, and private practice. I see adult clients, age 20 and older. I focus on teaching skills for regulating the reactions we have in the body, changing unhealthy thinking and behavior patterns, mindfulness skills to increase focus on the present rather than past and future ruminations. My goal is to help with healing trauma and finding more peace and contentment. I provide support through the process of healing trauma, as well as life transitions, help with gaining assertiveness skills & healthy boundaries, healing codependency, and healing from loss. I also help with management of Bipolar Disorder and Anxiety. I see clients via telehealth only. Telehealth can be a great option for anyone needing convenience in their busy schedules, those who live in rural areas, or those who have transportation barriers. I look forward to meeting you!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am passionate about teaching others how to use mindfulness approaches and somatic interventions to decrease emotional suffering. Being introduced to these skills and practices by a professor at Georgia State University in my 20s was life changing. These concepts were later honed in the form of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy early in my career while working with clients with severe and persistent mental illness at Northside Hospital. These skills felt approachable and effective. I've always believed these skills should be taught starting in pre-school and kindergarten. Learning how to breath with intention and connect with the body profoundly reduces suffering. The ability to utilize telehealth to teach these skills and provide support to people in rural areas has been wonderful. I grew up in a rural area of Georgia, and even today it can be a challenge to find mental health providers for people in those areas. I feel grateful to be able to provide those services.
