I treat children and adults who are experiencing depression and other mood disorders. I use a multimodal approach that can help to wrap the person in effective coping skills and environmental/family supports. At times, I assist families with obtaining in-home services to address the emotional and behavioral needs of children. I use CBT, DBT, EMDR, Cognitive Processing, Solution Focused, Art Therapy and other treatment modalities. Treatment approaches are selected based on client needs.

I treat children and adults who are experiencing different types of anxiety, such as trauma related, phobias, generalized anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, and other anxiety related difficulties. I use several different strategies that the client and I decide on to best fit their needs. I use CBT, DBT, EMDR, Cognitive Processing, Solution Focused, Art Therapy and other treatment modalities. I assist clients with resolving anxiety issues that affect their school/work adjustment.

I work with people who have experienced many different types of trauma, including work accidents, attacks by people or animals, war zone traumas, and child and adult physical and sexual abuse. I have advanced training treating children (predoctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship) and advanced training in trauma therapy. I am EMDR certified through the International EMDR Association.

I conduct forensic personal injury evaluations to determine if a psychological injury occurred due to a work accident, assault, dog or animal attack, equipment failure, abuse, harassment, negligence, or other causes. I also complete evaluations relevant to identifying ways to improve functioning in the school, work, or home settings. Evaluations also answer diagnostic questions as to whether autism, depression, OCD etc. are causing functional deficits.

Often when people have experienced trauma, or are depressed or anxious they perceive things in a more negative way which in turn can increase feelings of trauma, fear, and sadness. In therapy, we identify ways to calm the mind and body so that more realistic or positive beliefs can be fostered. CBT is an effective treatment for this type of change. When people think and feel differently, their avoidant and anxious behaviors change. Journaling, art, and other strategies complement CBT.

EMDR is a very effective treatment for addressing old traumas that persist in disrupting people's lives as well as recent traumas. It also helps with people who have experienced multiple traumas over the course of their life or a discrete single event, such as an accident or natural disaster. I have advanced training in EMDR and am certified through EMDRIA.
