About My Clients
I specialize in working with the LGBTQIA+ community, their allies, and neurodivergent folks. Specific areas of focus include: depression, anxiety, life transitions, new to therapy clients, chronic illness, mono and poly relationships, questions surrounding sexuality, gender, & coming out, neurodivergence-- supporting those questioning, self-diagnosed, and formally diagnosed. I assist those who want to sort through thoughts and feelings, process trauma, and deal with all of lives transitions.
My Background and Approach
Taking a queer theory lens, I ground my work in challenging social norms and constructs around sex, gender, sexuality, and relationships. This also extends to neurodivergence and embracing the interesting and nuanced ways our brains work. I have found that my neuro-affirming and queer affirming framework pairs well with narrative therapy, which means I help you unpack the stories you have been told about yourself and the world and create and tell your own authentic story! I provide a safe and stigma-free environment to get to know yourself better and ask the whys of life. I also have a therapy dog in training (pictured) who may be part of your therapy as desired. I aim to help individuals gain greater insight and confidence through authenticity, curiosity, and humor.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Coming to the mental health profession later in life, I bring a variety of experience to my clinical practice, including but not limited to, teaching artist experience, acting and musical background, improvisational comedy, working in religious spaces, questioning and deconstructing religion, caregiving for a chemically dependent individual, and discovering and receiving a late-in-life AuDHD diagnosis. About me: I am a wife, puppy mom, super cool aunt, friend, community member, neuroqueer, gender nonconforming goofball, maker of dad jokes, and daughter to dead parents. My special interests are: musical theater (on stage and off), spurts of fitness, investigative & psychological documentaries, vintage architecture, pop culture rabbit holes, random art projects, and basking in the cuteness of my chihuahua terrier puppy, Cash Monkey.
