About My Clients
Do you struggle with anxiety and/or executive functioning (EF)? Are you an intelligent person, yet struggle to start tasks, complete tasks, and seem to need a deadline to get anything done? I specialize in EF issues, ADHD, autism, relationship issues, depression, life transitions, family issues, and/or parenting issues. I use a combination of investigative/diagnostic work to identify the issue & provide tools (& accountability if that's needed) to help you gain control over your life.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of experience. My therapy tends to be client-centered, but I use a variety of different techniques/methods such as CBT, mindfulness techniques, Motivational Interviewing, and interpersonal therapy techniques. I have worked in a variety of different settings in my career so I feel comfortable with many different types of clients. My specialties include: Autism, ADHD, parenting issues, young adults/college students, anxiety, depression, family issues, and relationship issues. Clients tend to find my style supportive, relaxed yet focused, and active in problem-solving. I also like to mix in humor to keep things fun. Also, I ask all of my clients to state goals at the initial sessions so that we can stay focused and know when therapy is no longer needed. I look forward to helping you add some skills so that you can better navigate your struggles.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a firm believer in the rights of all individuals and have no tolerance for bigotry/racism/ableism. I have a strong sense of social justice and participate in rallies/marches for causes I believe in when I can. I have a passion for educating others about neurodiversity and the importance of all of "us" in the world (I am neurotypical) to better support ND individuals. I am a supporter of NPR and TPR, as well as Planned Parenthood. In addition, I am a pet lover (I have a dog AND a cat)!
