About My Clients
Are you feeling overwhelmed, and maybe you are not even sure as to why? Maybe you are experiencing anxiety, physical symptoms, or depression? Or perhaps you recently lost a loved one, or are going through a major life transition such as death/ grief, divorce, job loss, etc. I specialize in working with adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, anger, major life transitions, relationship issues, domestic violence, suicidal ideation, and have a history of traumatic experiences.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker which means I am a social worker and a clinical therapist. As a social worker I view individuals from the perspective of the Ecological Systems Theory- the belief that multiple systems within an individuals' life (sex, age, culture, family, neighborhood, work, etc) are directly connected and impact one another. From this perspective, every system should be taken into account when working in therapy. In terms of therapy with clients, because clients are unique, so should their therapy! Every person responds and benefits differently from different types of therapy. I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy- the belief that our thoughts, then feelings impact and direct our behaviors. So when you are experiencing a challenging behavior, if we can work backwards and explore negative thought patterns and make some changes then most behaviors also improve! I also use Strength-Based, Motivational-Interviewing, Solution-Focused, trauma focused care.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a therapist but also a social worker- I believe in equality, social justice, and that everyone has the right to live a life they define for themselves on their terms. I also believe that every person deserves peace in their life, in whatever form this may take. I am a true believer in the power of kindness and giving a helping hand.
