About My Clients
I enjoy supporting my clients in identifying roadblocks that prevent them from living a more fulfilling life. I have success in helping my clients who try to avoid them but feel stuck and disconnected by offering a place to slow down and explore what’s underneath the roadblocks that hold them back. Together, we co-create a safe, judgment-free space where we give voice to your fear and pain and nurture your wounded self. I'm here to assist you in your self-discovery, healing, and growth.
My Background and Approach
In my practice, I collaborate with clients to determine the right therapeutic approach, drawing from attachment-based, interpersonal, trauma-informed and culturally sensitive orientations. This means that we lean into what happened (not what’s wrong with you) in your childhood, past relationships, and cultural context to accurately understand your present struggles. Much of our emotional pain is created in relationships. These interpersonal wounds can also be healed in relationships. Your relationship with your therapist can and should be one that enables this healing. This is why a main focus of our work together is building trust and connection in therapeutic relationships by meeting you where you are as my authentic self in sessions. My intention is to make you feel accepted for who you are, empower you to be your true self, and build a new pattern of relating to yourself and others. From there, we build awareness and compassion to begin the work of life-changing growth.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that every culture has its unique definition and understanding of pain and suffering. Healing and reconciliation can also look very different depending on your own culture. My lived experience of navigating my bicultural identity and mental health journey as a first-generation immigrant, partner and mother have added to my ability to understand the culturally unique context in which we experience suffering and pain, as well as my intention to provide culturally responsive care to my clients. Throughout my own mental health journey, I learned how one-size-fits-all treatment for emotional and mental struggles can do more harm than good. I’m passionate about assisting you in integrating your culture-bound values and experiences into your journey of healing and growth.
