About My Clients

I love helping people look at old patterns of coping and interacting in the world, and seeing how those patterns influence their daily life. I work well with people who want to go under the surface of what's going on and look at what may be lurking underneath. This can understandably bring up some feelings of apprehension, and we will always go at a pace that feels right and safe for you. You're in the driver's seat, and I'm helping to navigate.

My Background and Approach

I've been in private practice since 2014, beginning in Portland and recently transferring across the bridge to Vancouver. Before opening my practice I worked in community mental health, walking alongside people needing high levels of support. My MA is from Lewis & Clark College and my BA is from Portland State University - I loved the combination of these two schools to get a well-rounded perspective on education and psychology. My approach is client-centered, warm, and trauma-informed. I trust you to be the expert on your life and I help you walk the path that feels right for you. I tend to be on the feeling side of the spectrum, and love helping people uncover and experience their own emotions. I've been told that my presence is grounding, nurturing, and friendly. I enjoy helping people to explore vulnerability and become more open with people in their lives. I'm also a big fan of working with therapists as clients, and supporting other therapists to grow their practices.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I'm a Pacific Northwest native, and definitely identify with the culture here. I love hiking, skiing, the mountains, the coast, and breaking down systems of oppression. As a straight, white, cisgender person I'm working to consistently keep my eyes open to ways that I can learn more, listen better, and lift up the voices that aren't being heard. Inclusive feminism and supporting the LGBTQ community are causes close to my heart. I've worked hard to build my competence at supporting trans and non binary clients, including becoming knowledgeable about writing letters for medical care and transition. I also provide one pro-bono spot on my schedule for the Returning Veterans Project, providing free counseling for a veteran or spouse who served in the most recent Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. I live in Vancouver, WA with my husband, son, dog, and cat. We love getting outside, baking, camping, and going on adventures.
