About My Clients

I understand the courage it takes to delve into issues that feel uncomfortable and many times painful. I provide a welcoming, safe, private space to support healing and growth - where honesty is valued and not judged. I approach sessions with empathic listening, compassion, respect and genuine curiosity. My approach to our work together also includes asking questions, offering interpretations, providing psycho-education, skill building, encouragement, honesty and a splash of humor.

My Background and Approach

I am a Licensed Marriage Therapist/Psychotherapist. I have a passion for assisting, educating, encouraging, supporting and celebrating the individual's healing and success, even from negative events. I specialize in trauma therapy and I am trained in EMDR for those who have survived a wide range of disturbing life events, traumas and stress. During couples counseling I utilize the Gottman Method and other tools from my toolbox. In additions I enjoy using CBT, calming skills, meditation, Trauma focused, Strength based, Solution Focused , Cognitive Processing, Christian Counseling and Gestalt. My areas of focus include ADHD, depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, living with personality disorders, grief, codependency, addictions, Women's Issues, sexual abuse, self esteem, relationship issues, and OCD. Together we can discover your best self, even if its hidden underneath the difficulties of life. I welcome you to be in touch and share your story.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that everyone can change and grow at any time in their lives. I don't believe that there is a limit to human capacity. I think the main reason we develop mental health issues is because they are unhealthy learned behaviors that we have picked up along the way. Which means that I think you can unlearn the faulty behaviors and replace them with healthy ones. I've struggled with anxiety and learned from my own therapist and 12 step group how to use calming skills when challenged with those thoughts/situations. Due to extensive exposure to narcissism, I've also learned how to cope with difficult personalities. I've participated in various peace organizations over the years and have closely supported the LGBTQ community in my family/neighborhood. Although a Steelers fan, I won't judge your team of choice and hope you will support mine. My volunteer work includes working w/ immigrants/refugees as a tutor/support for citizenship and committee work in my local neighborhood.
