About My Clients
I typically work with kids, adolescents and young adults struggling emotionally. Maybe they have experienced trauma, are struggling at home, school or work due to symptoms of trauma, including anxiety, depression, difficulty focusing, relationship/social challenges and sleep problems. If a child is having difficulty talking about it, we can use music, art or movement to access and process difficult emotions. I adore working with young people, as well as supporting parents & families!
My Background and Approach
As a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Music Therapist, I specialize in working with children and adolescents through the arts. Kids may be having a hard time at school or at home, but do not have the words to express themselves yet. When working with young people, I use music, art or movement to access and express difficult experiences and emotions. When working with adults in psychotherapy, I use a trauma-informed approach, often including somatic experiences where we reconnect to the body and access difficult emotions that way. When working with adults in psychotherapy, my focus is how in the context of a safe, therapeutic relationship, you can access parts of yourself that need your exploration and compassion, and in turn process difficult emotions and experiences. When working with adults, the focus is to heal trauma in order to feel more connected to oneself and the world.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe everyone deserves the right to affordable mental healthcare. For this reason, I am happy to accept insurance, assist you in receiving out-of-network coverage, and offer a sliding-scale fee for those in need. I also believe the creative arts can be an amazing avenue for working with children in therapy. After working in Brooklyn public schools for 10 years, I try to support as many folks as I can who may not otherwise have access to mental healthare.
