About My Clients
I have worked in the mental health field for the past 5 years now, this has ranged from group homes, inpatient facilities, family therapy programs to mental health case management. I have worked with a diverse range of individuals with many different concerns. I have most experience working with anxiety, depression, substance use/dual diagnosis, SPMI diagnoses, PTSD and eating disorders. I also have experience working with couples and families with children ages 13 and older.
My Background and Approach
I typically like to bring a person-centered approach to therapy, allowing for you to set tone for what you would like to work on. You are the professional in your own life, and I am here to guide you with tools, education, and support. I also appreciate utilizing other theories or methods within this to help us better understand your story, things like parts work (part of IFS), somatic based approaches like mindfulness and being aware of how the body is feeling. I lean on Adlerian centered techniques at times when exploring goal planning and how to identify and explore strengths. At the heart of my work is a deep belief in the power of genuine connection. I strive to bring honesty, and warmth into every therapeutic relationship, knowing that when clients feel truly seen and understood, meaningful growth can begin to take root.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe each individual is the true expert in their own life and their own experience. I appreciate the chance to be along that journey with you. I also believe that each individual is doing the best they can at any given point. There are tools we can identify, work on, skills we can improve, etc. However, these are things we can improve and identify together, and what you do not know, you cannot use. I believe many individuals feel shame, embarrassment, and are extremely hard on themselves for not pushing themselves further or harder, when being graceful with yourself can often have a much larger impact than we realize.
