Trauma and PTSD are areas of mental health that we are just beginning to understand. I work with folks who have experienced developmental trauma in childhood as well as folks who have traumatic experiences from older adolescence or adulthood. Whether the trauma you've been through happened over an extended period of time or was a single event, we will work together, drawing on mind-body connection and polyvagal theory to explore what healing from these experiences could look like for you.

I am absolutely delighted to be able to work with children, teens, and adults who a part of the queer community, exploring their gender and sexual identity, or who may be questioning or experimenting with these identities. I am excited to hold your unique understanding, meaning, and exploration of your relationship with queerness. I work with folks who identify all across (or outside of) the gender and sexuality landscapes, and how those identities impact your relationship with self and others.

While I am not attached to any one theoretical orientation, narrative therapy is helpful to explore the meaning that you make of your experiences. The story we tell about ourselves and the world is important, and in therapy we can begin to unpack your experiences and co-write new stories about ourselves and the world around us. In this process, we can draw on other types of therapy that make sense and seem useful to you as you rewrite your story for yourself.

In working with adults, teens, and children who have experienced trauma, particularly early in life, I draw on attachment theory as I talk with folks about the possible long-term impact that traumatic circumstances or experience may have had on them. Attachment theory allows us to think about trauma as something that happened to you and resulted in short and long term symptoms that you experience today. This self knowledge is a useful first step in moving towards healing.

As a new provider, I draw on may different theoretical orientations in our work together to tailor treatment that works for each individual. However, my theoretical approach to therapy is always guided by the client and centers the person sitting across from me. Some theories that I like to draw on, when appropriate or requested by a client, include somatic therapy (mind-body therapy), Narrative Exposure Therapy, CBT, systems therapy, play therapy, feminist theory, and psychodynamic therapy.

I work with children and adolescents around issues of gender/sexuality/identity exploration, trauma, and family. I am working to become SMART therapy certified and am child-centered and child-led in my work with younger and older kids.
