About My Clients

Transitioning into adulthood has always been tough-from deciding what to do after high school, living away from home, meeting new academic expectations, and navigating new social circles. Your generation has also experienced unique struggles since you were born. Post 9/11 security, school shootings and lockdown drills were your norm. You also have your own individual situations that lead to overwhelm and stress. We will focus on your own unique combination of experiences, challenges & goals.

My Background and Approach

My approach is designed to help you overcome the unique challenges your generation faces. Traditional therapy can be great for helping people sort out their emotional issues, but young adults need more than that to gain true independence and fulfillment. We will start by working on the presenting problems—the ones that impact your daily life in obvious ways. These are the problems that make you realize that you need help in the first place. These must come first, as they often stand in the way of solving deeper problems and setting positive goals. But alleviating these symptoms is only the first part of the process. As your symptoms begin to subside, we will move on to forming a game plan for a better life. What do you want this stage of your life to look like? What would you like to improve about yourself? What would you like to change? The goal isn’t just to help you feel okay or “survive” your days. The goal is to make it possible for you to thrive.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

In 2019, I left temporarily lefty the field of therapy to work with young adults as an international educational consultant, which led me to move to Portugal with my family. The global pandemic struck soon after, which made it a less than ideal time to experience life abroad! After two years in Europe, we returned to North Carolina. I was immediately taken aback by the mental health crisis I found waiting for me. Young adults were struggling like never before in the wake of the pandemic. Worse still, there was a clear shortage of therapy services available—especially services meant to help young adults. I felt strongly that it was time to return to therapy and help young adults at this crucial time in their lives.

I offer online counseling in the following states:
