About My Clients
The majority of my clients are Neurodivergent (Autistic, ADHD) or LGBTQIA+ individuals -- Many of whom have felt unseen or even harmed by traditional approaches to mental health treatment. Our neurotypes and needs are not conditions to be "fixed," but elements that are key to truly living as our authentic selves. I consider my clients to be the ultimate authority on their own lived experiences, and strive to foster a space of safety, validation, and personal exploration.
My Background and Approach
I have been working in the mental health field for 14 years, with extensive experience serving clients within inpatient, crisis-response, correctional, community-based, and outpatient settings. I credit my work with such a wide array of populations as key to developing a greater, more comprehensive understanding of both client concerns as well as the systemic barriers impacting minority communities. However, it was not until navigating my own experiences as a late-diagnosed neurodivergent individual that I decided to open Authentic Therapy Services LLC, founded on the values of supporting and affirming both neurodiversity and diverse gender / sexual identities.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I understand the importance of finding a therapist that truly "gets" it... You shouldn't need to educate your therapist in order to obtain help, nor should you feel like you have to prove the legitimacy of your experiences in order to feel seen. As an autistic, ADHD, and queer individual, I strive to continuously model the ideals of authenticity, self-compassion, and self-advocacy.
