About My Clients
I work will all kinds of people and all kinds of issues. Therapy can help you gain a clearer understanding of your interpersonal relationships and a clearer intrapersonal understanding of yourself. My therapeutic orientation is largely humanistic in nature. It means I come to you as my authentic, genuine, and imperfect self. I work to see your world as you see it. I keep a lookout for blindspots you might not be aware of and explore these with you to see if they are of any consequence
My Background and Approach
Within my humanistic orientation, I also engage many evidence based modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), and others as they fit your presenting issues. I find these therapies can help us explore those nagging voices in our heads that tell us we aren't good enough or that we aren't worth the effort, help us understand our relationships difficulties, and to explore new ways of understanding past traumas. While I recently graduated with my doctorate I have been working in the mental health industry for over 25 years. I have extensive experience working with adults with severe and persistent mental illness and have been working with more diverse populations since 2017.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My politics lean to a progressive left. I am an ally to the LGBTQ+ community. I recognize my privilege as a straight White woman and work to keep this awareness in my practice in meeting with people of diverse communities. I believe that EVERYONE has the capacity to grow and achieve their dreams.
