About My Clients
My clients are often teens/adults who are dealing with trauma, life's challenges, or who might be experiencing depression, anxiety, loss, or family difficulties. My clients often describe my style as refreshing and laid back. I work with individuals that want to improve their lives, or families that are struggling, and trying to find their way to grow together.
My Background and Approach
I have been in this field a little over 20 years, and am an "out of the box" therapist. I blend "talk therapy" with creative approaches, incorporating writing, play, and art into the process. I believe in meeting people where they are, and utilize an integrative/intuitive approach to counseling. I often incorporate mindfulness practice, and teach individuals about how to stay present, and not fear difficult feelings. I believe this process is collaborative, and I both listen and offer insight. I use humor, metaphor, empathy, and a belief that we are capable of living life to the fullest. I believe our background and experience is fundamental to who we are, but that we also are ever changing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have been both the client and the therapist, and I understand how important this relationship is. I have had my own struggles, and know that life is ever changing, at times stressful. It's ok to take on new roles, new relationships, and new goals. I know people can recover from some very dark places. Often the difficult times teach us the most if we are open to the lessons.
