About My Clients
When a child experiences difficulty they may express it in their play. Play is a child’s way of communicating. With play therapy the therapist meets the child where they are and helps them develop skills to process their feelings and express themselves. I use a prescriptive approach which blends various techniques based on the child’s needs.
My Background and Approach
Play therapy has been proven an effective treatment for a variety of children’s presenting problems including anxiety, depression, trauma, parent/child relationship issues, behavioral concerns, self-esteem, and peer relationship issues. My approach is to use a combination of play therapy techniques as well as other therapeutic techniques. I believe that changes happens in the relationship. Therapy can be scary for kids and adults. I utilize play and expressive art techniques to meet that child where they are. Through my experience working with children and families in foster care, school, and community based settings, I have used play and expressive are techniques to help children process their feelings.
