About My Clients
I primarily work with LGBTQ+ adults who feel stuck in patterns of anxiety, shame, conflict, or disconnection from their bodies. Many of my clients are thoughtful, capable people who have learned to push through pain or minimize their needs, yet still feel quietly burdened by self-criticism, confusion, or a sense of not fully belonging. I have expertise with body image, eating disorders, sexuality, gender, and the emotional impact of growing up without feeling fully seen or safe to be yourself.
My Background and Approach
I’ve been practicing psychotherapy since 2011 and am licensed in both California and Texas. My approach is warm, relational, and depth-oriented, grounded in emotion-focused and psychodynamic traditions, with additional training in CBT and DBT for anxiety, eating disorders, and body dysmorphia. I believe lasting change comes not from forcing yourself to be different but from understanding yourself with honesty and compassion. Much of our work focuses on emotions because they often reveal what words cannot. Our patterns exist because they helped us survive our past and as we learn to listen to what your emotions are communicating, new choices become possible. I am a collaborative therapist. Who we are matters. Why we are the way we are matters. Together, we work toward greater clarity, self-trust, and the ability to move toward what you want rather than away from what you fear.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I care deeply about the people I have the honor of working with. I believe in our capacity to grow, connect, and find meaning, even when past pain has made that feel distant or unsafe. I strive to approach people and experiences with curiosity, humility, and gratitude. As a gay man with a significant religious background, I know firsthand the heartbreak of inner conflict and the loss of family or community simply for being who you are. I’ve been closely involved in work supporting LGBTQ+ individuals navigating the tension between identity, faith, and belonging, including helping establish the first official LGBTQ+ group on an evangelical seminary campus. Outside the therapy room, I love being outdoors, kayaking, playing the ukulele, and spending time planting trees, especially eucalyptus.
