Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Brooklyn, NY

About My Clients

I work best with children under 12 (and their parents) experiencing anxiety and other challenges impacting their academic and general functioning. I also support parents in need of concrete skills training and education, and parents who want therapy to unpack their own upbringing and childhood experiences in order to strengthen their relationships with their own children. I also work with adults struggling with unresolved childhood conflicts that are affecting their well-being and happiness.

My Background and Approach

I received my Master of Social Work degree from New York University and have dedicated my entire career to working with children and families. I was also an early childhood educator, and much of what I've learned about early learning, child mental health, and family dynamics comes from my experiences in the classroom. I have received extensive training in various modalities, e.g., TF-CBT (trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy), and CPP (child-parent psychotherapy), that support emotional regulation, executive functioning, and the parent-child bond. My philosophy leans heavily on healing past experiences and using relationships and bonds to heal. My training in attachment-based therapy fuels my passion for promoting healing and fostering healthy connections in adults with unresolved childhood conflicts. My clinical style is eclectic and tailored to each client’s needs and grounded in strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally affirming practices.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am passionate about child mental health and am grateful for parents who have the courage to ask for help and remain an active voice in their child's care. I believe that the blueprint for who we eventually grow up to be is laid out in the early years of our lives. How we relate and connect with each other, how we seek or avoid love, how we understand and view the world around us - those patterns are first set in early childhood. As much as we may hold onto those patterns, they're not set in stone. With guidance and compassion, we can learn more positive ways to seek connection, or unlearn unhealthy thought patterns when it comes to how we view ourselves and engage with others. I believe that everybody deserves to be seen, safe, and loved. There is enough dignity for everybody and I use that tenet to ground myself in a culturally affirming/anti-bias framework.
