About My Clients
You're going through a challenging situation and can't figure out why you aren't getting through it. You are struggling to make sense of this situation and find yourself bothered it. You may feel some anxiety or sadness and want to find a way to get some relief. Clients come to counseling ready to engage in thoughtful discussion and are open to looking at new ways to solve their most pressing issues.
My Background and Approach
Jeana uses person-centered therapy to focus on the client's needs; each session is tailored to your biggest concern. I want to provide you with tools that help you identify and change thinking errors, improve your effectiveness in relationships, and teach you mindfulness strategies for immediate relaxation. I will teach you about your brain and ways to improve your reactions to stress and uncertainty. Most importantly, I will be a trusted source of feedback and emotional support. I have a bachelor's degree in Emergency Management from North Dakota State University and a master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Minnesota State University Moorhead. I have been practicing therapy since graduating in 2017 and have provided group and individual therapy utilizing DBT, CBT, and ACT.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe humans suffer in ways that could be prevented. Teaching parents how to provide emotional support for optimal development from ages 0-5 would have lasting impacts for generations. Eliminating adverse childhood experiences including physical, sexual, and emotional abuse would allow people a chance to become the truest version of themself, free from senseless suffering. I believe everyone deserves a chance to feel content with their life and therapy is way to achieve that.
