About My Clients
While I treat a wide range of concerns - depression, anxiety, substance use, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, PTSD, etc - many of my clients present with no identifiable problem other than a persistent sense that something is "off." You may find it hard to pinpoint exactly what is wrong, but you know you need something in your life to change.
My Background and Approach
My treatment philosophy is person-centered, which means I make every effort to see the world through your eyes and understand your unique situation before offering solutions. While I integrate multiple therapeutic approaches - cognitive behavioral, experiential, psychodynamic - to treat symptoms, I place a great deal of focus on building our trust and connection because I believe they are foundational for deeper, lasting change. You can expect me to be relational, warm, and direct in session. Much of my psychotherapy training is also rooted in relational Gestalt therapy, which means I focus on the here-and-now of our connection while helping you deepen awareness of behavioral patterns, underlying emotions, and unmet needs. From that awareness, I help you discover new solutions and perspectives on the problems that brought you to therapy - often surprising ones!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in the reproductive health/rights/justice field, advocating for reproductive rights and helping Texans navigate barriers to get the care they needed. This experience has informed my approach to treating perinatal mental health concerns - it is grounded in the understanding that our reproductive lives are layered and complex, and that there is no single "right" path to creating a meaningful life and family. I am committed to providing a safe and affirming space for all of my clients, especially those belonging to the LGBTQIA+ community. I am proud to offer competent care for queer and trans clients who are navigating fertility challenges and making family-building decisions.
