About My Clients

I specialize in working with individuals who are struggling with mood and/or anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, trauma related symptoms/PTSD, attachment issues, family conflicts/divorce, grief and loss, school-related challenges, issues relating to self-esteem, and life-transitions.

My Background and Approach

For nearly a decade I have provided both individual and group therapy to adolescents and young adults facing significant emotional, behavioral, and social challenges. Prior to opening my private practice, I spent seven years working as a mental health counselor at a special education school and residential treatment facility. My experience also includes working in inpatient, outpatient, and partial hospitalization programs as a therapist and a drug and alcohol counselor. Regardless of where you are at in your process, I will meet you. I would describe my approach as gentle, nurturing, and strength-based. I am interested in supporting my clients, while also helping them to learn how to be accountable for themselves while on the path to making positive changes in their lives. Clients appreciate my authenticity, collaborative nature, and sense of humor.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe the therapeutic relationship is paramount: Therapy requires courage, strength, and trust in yourself and in your therapist. The truth is that life can be difficult. So many of us experience ups and downs, unpredictability, anxiety, and feelings of dis-ease however, we don't necessarily have to wait until things are falling apart (or we feel like they are!) - help is always available. I strongly believe that change is possible (if you want it) and you don't have to figure it all out on your own. In my opinion, engaging in therapy is always a good idea; we usually benefit from gaining an objective perspective from a professional, increasing awareness and insight into our challenges and why we are the way we are, and learning new skills which can help us to better navigate the challenges sometimes inherent to life.
