About My Clients
I offer individual counseling for adults. I best serve the LGBTQ community on issues around gender identity, sexuality, relationships, anxiety, depression, life changes, grief and loss. I also work a lot with people with ADHD and/or who are on the autism spectrum. Clients who come to me often are seeking to find self-acceptance and to improve self-confidence and authenticity.
My Background and Approach
Over the last twenty years as a social worker, I have learned and practiced a variety of skills that I can offer in our work together. I have a strong background in meditation and mindfulness practices, I am skilled in providing a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can truly be themselves and be vulnerable. We can work collaboratively on the goals for yourself that you feel are best for you, as my approach is a client-centered one. I utilize a combination of CBT and ACT to encourage clients to accept themselves, accept life, and to feel empowered to grow and evolve and thrive. We will begin right where you are, in whatever you are experiencing, and let that be the space that guides us toward finding the strengths within yourself that will expand over our time together. I am here to bring out of you your best self, those things about you that you already know. I am here as a guide, as a mirror to bring your light to life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that anyone can heal if given the time, space and encouraging environment in which to do so. I believe in the goodness of humankind, that ultimately humans are good and that relationships are the most important thing in life. When we deepen our relationship with ourselves, the relationships around us, our community, and the world, can also change and evolve. That change begins with us. For decades I have worked both personally and professionally in the LGBTQIA+ community, volunteering and providing therapeutic intervention. I am also passionate about creativity as a way to heal.
