My Background and Approach
I work with first responders, veterans, and people from all walks of life to heal from trauma, post-traumatic stress, and substance use, using evidence-based treatments including EMDR and CPT to accommodate your individual needs. I spent 24 years as a first responder before becoming a mental health counselor. So I have intimate knowledge of trauma and the effects it has on people and families. My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Everyone can recover from trauma and post-traumatic stress. The human brain is an amazing thing because it can adjust to almost anything. The problem is that we adjust to accommodate for the trauma we have experienced. Sometimes in subtle ways and other times in large ways. We may not want to leave our home, or we have recurring nightmares. But we adjust to these things, and they become our new normal. They do not have to be, though.
