Jasmine Travis (she/her)

I have a B.S. from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and a M.A. from Southern University. I am a fully Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), licensure is granted by the Louisiana Licensed Profession. My expertise is working with dually diagnosed individuals, meaning I’ve had the pleasure of working with individuals diagnosed with both a mental illness & substance dependence. I found that this is where my passion lies- with those that feel lost, misunderstood, and off-course. It greatly disturbs me how often a person is made to feel wrong for who they are, bad decisions they’ve made (which, if you’re a human, you make ‘em too), and what their truth is . I wanted to create a safe space for people who are seeking counseling to feel safe, supported, and at ease. I also enjoy working with those who are LGBTQ, queer, non-monogamous and anyone else who wants to be sure they will be met with non-judgement and understanding by a therapist (I identify as a hetero, cis-gender female).

I believe that most people who see a counselor are not psychologically abnormal. My clients are having human reactions to a complex, stressful, ever-changing world. No matter the problem, people cope in the best way they know-how. My hope is to help you cope more effectively. Perhaps you find you're experiencing adjustment difficulties, relationship issues, sadness, daily life conflicts, or career issues. Maybe you're facing uncertainty or you're at a transition or turning point in your life. The complicated feelings of distress, anxiety, depression can be immobilizing. Life is challenging and my experience has taught me how valuable psychotherapy can be towards forward movement and meaningful change. Everyone has a story. I want to help you live the story you prefer. We are all unique, and so is what we need. My approach is person-centered, practical, interactive, and solution-focused.
