Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is an action-oriented approach to therapy. Here, we learn to stop avoiding, denying, and struggling with their inner emotions and, instead, accept that these deeper feelings are appropriate responses to certain situations that should not prevent them from moving forward in their lives.
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is a type of treatment that helps people understand their thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and how they interact. It focuses on changing the automatic negative thoughts that can contribute to and worsen emotional difficulties, depression, and anxiety. These thoughts are identified, challenged, and replaced with more objective, realistic thoughts.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) provides clients with new skills to manage painful emotions and decrease conflict in relationships. DBT specifically focuses on providing therapeutic skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.
