About My Clients
We live in the intersections of various identities that influece the way we walk the path of life. These may include being bilingual and bicultural, LGBTQIA, nuerodivergent, etc.. or we may not resonate with any label at all. Life experiences may involve living with depression, anxiety, gender exploration, immigration experiences, gender exploration, trauma, neurodivergent, biculturalism and intersectionality.
My Background and Approach
Through my study in sociology, women and gender studies, and social work - I recognize the influence of our society and situations around us that influence our wellbeing. I approach things by noting the mind-body connection for care that is holistic. In session, I use somatic (body-based) modalities such as EMDR and Mindfulness-based practices as well as other forms of talk therapy including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative therapy, and other tools. Not one modality is better than another, some resonate more than others - so therapy is person-centered to honor where we are and current needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have an intersectional approach to therapy, and view that identities and systems in our world impact how we experience life. There are things within us and outside us that influence different conditions, it is challenging. In therapy we can take a look at ourselves and our history, as well as conditions outside of us that paint the story of our world. How are we existing now, and what comes next? I believe in decolonizing our work, and restructuring elements of holistic care to care for our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs.
