About My Clients
My clients are mostly men who look successful from the outside. The career is going fine, the relationships mostly work, the numbers look right. And still, something underneath is asking for attention. For some it shows up as burnout. For others it's a quiet distance from the people they're closest to, or the sense that constant output is costing something they can't name. That feeling isn't a problem to fix. It's information. The work is learning to listen to it, and to let something shift.
My Background and Approach
I'm a Registered Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW #139998), supervised by Emily Haydock, LMFT #109122, at Juniper Sky. Before training as a therapist I spent years working closely with high-achieving professionals, so I know the particular loneliness of being the capable one in the room. My approach is somatic and parts-based. We track what's happening in the body, not only the story you tell about it. I work with ego state (parts) therapy, which treats your guarded, defended places as protectors doing a job rather than flaws to fix. For trauma, I'm trained in EMDR. You don't have to relive something to release it. For clients exploring ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, I offer the therapy in partnership with a licensed medical partner who handles prescribing. Whatever we work on, the aim is movement. Not just naming what feels off, but feeling it loosen.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My work is informed by Buddhist psychology. The idea underneath it is that there's an inner knowing in each of us that gets covered over. Not broken. Just buried. The work is finding your way back to it. I keep a daily meditation practice. In the room I'm not serene or wise. I'm present, and I'm direct. I also think people's defenses are smart. Whatever you built to protect yourself, you built for a reason, and I won't take it apart before you want to. My job is to make the room safe enough that you get to decide. I'm a gay man, and a JewBu - Jewish Buddhist. I bring that into the room not as a label but as lived experience of navigating authenticity in environments that didn't always have space for the full picture. I work well with other queer clients who'd rather not explain themselves from scratch, and with men who've spent a long time being the capable one.
