About My Clients
As someone who was diagnosed later in life with ADHD, I was not surprised that most of the clients I serve are neurodiverse. For the last 20 years I have worked as a therapist is many settings- substance use, school based counseling, and private practice. I worked for 15 years as a counseling professor and I find that clients enjoy my extensive education as well as my ability to connect with them. I work with many folks that are experiencing mental health in the critical window of perimenopause.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Olympia, Washington with over twenty years of experience. My counseling modalities include EMDR, Psychodynamic Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I am also a certified Enneagram teacher which can support clients understanding internal motivations and relational dynamics. My credentials include a Doctorate in Counselor Education (Ph.D.), a Mental Health Counselor License, (LMHC), and Child Mental Health Specialist (CMHS). I am a qualified Clinical Supervisor of post-masters’ candidates in pursuit of licensing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In addition to being a counseling professor for 15 years, I also teach subjects that have also supported my own growth- yoga, the enneagram, and tarot. I am spiritual but not religious. I put an emphasis on your values, and what matters to you first a foremost. I am a student of evolutionary astrology. I believe that we all have the tools that we need to grow and heal, and my role is to guide, support, and at times direct with compassion. I enjoy gardening, practicing German, qi gong, pickleball, being outdoors, and spending time with my spouse and cats. I support BIPOC, HAES, and am a disability advocate.
