About My Clients
I work with individuals and partners presenting with relationship concerns, identity exploration, family issues, low self esteem, work/career issues, and life transitions. I have expertise working with college/graduate students, BIPOC including transracial adoptees, and have a particular working with women.
My Background and Approach
My work is primarily grounded in relational-cultural and attachment-based frameworks. In other words, we work together to help you connect with or back to your core essence and authenticity through deepening of understanding of how you relate to yourself, others, and the world, encouraging compassion and acceptance, exploring and understanding patterns that may or may not be serving you presently, and empowering you to stand more fully in your unique truth to live a more fulfilled, balanced, and meaningful life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I grew up in a town and environment where I didn't necessarily fit in. I would spend many of those years doing anything I could to “fit in”, which meant disowning and disconnecting from many aspects of my identity. These experiences led me to therapy for the first (but definitely not last) time. Prior to being in therapy, I had a pretty negative perception of it. What I found was that it provided me a space where I was able to be truly myself as messy, complex, and beautiful as that was and provided me one of the first experiences where another person was attuned and accepting of all parts of me. My experiences in the world along with my experiences in therapy sparked a desire in me to want to provide a similar space for others. A space where the people I work with can not only be who they are fully but also embrace it, even (or especially) through the messier times in life.
