About My Clients
My goal is to create a space where you can truly be yourself. I believe we can heal and grow through a little hard work and a little humor along the way. I want change to feeling exciting and less scary. So, I prefer an easygoing, down-to-earth approach where space is created for honest conversations and growth.
My Background and Approach
In terms of approach, I am a very eclectic therapist that pulls from Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and some Relational therapies. I am a talk therapy therapist through and through. I like to utilize our space as a sounding board, where we talk through different situations and volley off of each other different ideas. I provide practical tools while also helping my clients set intentions for changes they wish to see in their daily lives. I always say therapy is the best form of accountability because you always have someone there to check in on you and remind you of your goals. I never want therapy to feel like a chore so I am not big on assigning homework assignments and doing a bunch of structured activities. I more want us to focus on setting goals, changing habits, and being intentional.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My role as a therapist is to walk alongside my clients, to provide them support through difficult times, and to help them meet their goals and achieve a life they value and desire. Due to my background in marriage and family counseling, whether we are working individually or in couples/family, I always analyze the role relationships play in our lives. I believe our connections with others, whether it be friendships, family, romantic partners, co-workers, serve a big impact in how we navigate through life. I’m especially passionate about serving the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. As a Black woman, one of the reasons I became a therapist is so people who look like me can have a safe, authentic space to work through barriers and thrive. Representation matters, and I’m here to provide that space and advocate for those who need it.
