About My Clients

Whatever your background or living situation--individuals, couples, families, with or without children—whatever the stress you are living with, whoever or whatever you have lost, a visit to my virtual office can offer some welcome relief. Recapture just a few moments of enthusiastically enjoying life as the adventure it should be. Improve your relationships—strained as they are because the rhythm of our lives has been so unnaturally disrupted. Regain a sense of who you truly are.

My Background and Approach

Originally a genetics research scientist, I view psychotherapy through a biological lens—that is, who we are psychologically, biologically, and energetically exists by virtue of having conferred enhanced survival on our species. Our body's built-in self-healing capacity can be harnessed to effect the kind of psychological changes we want in ourselves. We can figure out how to provide relief from whatever is perceived by us as a "problem." My approach goes beyond behavior management, and I have used it to successfully address severe anxiety, depression, and mental health challenges such as OCD and PTSD. I implement Image Transformation Therapy and adopt elements of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Person-Centered, Existential, and Cognitive Behavioral therapies, to effect change and restore a natural sense of capacity to adapt and appropriately respond to challenges.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Now more than ever, I support freedom and equality for all. I have watched in horror as democracy itself is imperiled. I cannot express the depth of my gratitude for Michelle and Barak Obama's, Kamal Harris's, and Joe Biden's call to arms. I believe therapy restores agency to people. It seems particularly urgent that as many people as possible act with agency to reclaim our democracy so that we have something to work on to improve. What I count on is that a psychologically healthy person will embrace "enlightened self-interest," express more capacity to care for others, and focus on how better to extend the longevity of our species. Enlightened self-interest seems to spring naturally out of a psychologically healthy human mind. And therein lies our hope. On another topic—at the beginning of the pandemic, I sang "Sing Gently" in Eric Whitacre's virtual choir with 17,571 other singers from around the world. It was awesome!
