About My Clients
Does the idea of therapy give you anxiety even though you know you need it? It's daunting task but whether your goal is to completely resolve old wounds or to simply create a willingness to do so, we will go at your pace. Occasionally, I may challenge you but it will be non-judgmental and non-abrasive. Together we will work to uncover, unravel, and understand so that you can discover, heal, and learn new ways of moving towards a rich meaningful life.
My Background and Approach
Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I will teach you how to make committed action towards your values, despite the negative thoughts and feelings that often arise in daily functioning. With a trauma-focused lens, we will examine how past experiences have shaped your current beliefs which lead to the feelings that drive your behaviors.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe everyone has the capacity to heal and create a meaningful and fulfilled life. I believe everyone deserves respect and acceptance no matter what their background. I'm also quite aware of my own limitations so if I feel we are not a good fit, I will kindly let you know and help you find someone who is because your healing growth are of the utmost importance. Because of my experience of almost 30 years of marriage to a neurodivergent partner, having a gay brother in a strict Baptist family, and a young adult child who walked through addiction, I feel I am able to meet people non-judgmentally wherever they are at in their journey of life. We all need someone to come alongside us, listen empathically, and offer not only support but also a different perspective. It can make a world of difference and canliterally save lives in some cases. I am honored to be that person for others and help light their way when they feel as if their world is dark and hopeless. There is always hope.
