About My Clients
Most of my clients are highly intelligent, proactive, and curious people who have found themselves feeling stuck or depleted. They are juggling many stressors of living in a fast-paced world and looking for ways to maintain balance, assert themselves, increase self-care, and find more joy in their lives. Most clients work with me to reduce stress and anxiety, and to learn to better manage their medical conditions.
My Background and Approach
I derive joy from both longer-term work and brief interventions, but my ultimate goal is to help my clients master techniques that they will eventually outside of the session. For some clients, this means conducting a few light-hearted problem-focused coaching sessions; for others, this requires longer-term intensive psychotherapy. I have over 15 years of therapy experience, and have worked at the VA, several medical centers, and community mental health, before starting my own practice in 2019. I specialize in treatment of anxiety disorders and reducing impact of medical illness on one's quality of life. I particularly enjoy assisting people who are experiencing mixed physical and mental health concerns -- be that mental struggle manifesting through bodily symptoms, or a physical condition causing emotional distress. I start therapy with building a strong background of trust and compassion, and then use CBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based methods to generate more forward momentum.
