About My Clients

Many of my clients are young adults striving to launch lives of purpose and connection--and their parents. I also work with teens and adults of all ages who are struggling with substance use and mood disorders. Many of my clients are depressed, addicted, and disconnected. Through our work together, they master skills to manage big emotions in the moment, reduce reliance on substances, and move forward with a concrete plan aligned with their values.

My Background and Approach

I hold a masters in clinical mental health counseling from Mercer University and a masters in creative writing from the University of Virginia. I use tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy in my work with clients, as well as narrative therapy approaches. I have experience working in an intensive outpatient substance use recovery program prior to joining group private practice. As a Positive Discipline parent educator, I coach parents in launching self-reliant young adults.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I see clients of all faiths, backgrounds and beliefs, and enjoy discovering the core values that motivate each client. My personal faith in Christ is a deep motivator for my work with clients, as they rediscover purpose and meaning in their lives. I am a divorced mom of two teenagers and am passionate about (and experienced in) working with divorced parents as they navigate co-parenting and post-divorce recovery.
