My Background and Approach
My social work career began in 2005 working in programs for unhoused people and early intervention for infants and toddlers. In 2016 I completed my Master of Social Work degree and graduate certificate in infant mental health at the University of Washington. My graduate internship experiences were in education policy for immigrant and refugee rights and infant and early childhood mental health. I worked in community mental health for two years postgraduate, and in 2018 shifted into private practice. I approach counseling from a psychodynamic and psychoanalytic lens, which means I see the dynamic of the therapeutic relationship and understanding the dynamics throughout one's life as central to healing. Spiritual and intuitive practices are a specialty for me, such as exploring a sense of presence, energy work, mantra, and meditation. I also invite discussions about the use of holistic resources, such as naturopathic care, bodywork, plant-based foods and herbs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Personally, I have been on an evolving spiritual path since a young age that has included in-depth practice of Eastern spiritual philosophy, with extensive time in India and a graduate degree in Eastern Literature. My own experiences in counseling have contributed greatly to my personal and spiritual development. My passion for somatic (body-based) healing emerged as I observed the healers around me and, inspired by them, I have studied Reiki, cranio sacral therapy, and infant massage. Currently I’m informally studying herbal medicine and holistic supports for health and mental health. I am committed to social justice and environmentalism, and contribute to these causes.
