About My Clients

Are you going through some big changes and starting to feel like you aren't quite the same person as you were before? Some transitions can call everything into question. Break-up/divorce, becoming a parent, relocation, illness, job loss, kids leaving the nest, young adults launching, grieving the loss of a loved one, internals shifts. Whether your changes are unexpected or desired, you may feel pushed beyond your limits, uncertain, confused -- I want to help you navigate it all.

My Background and Approach

For over 25 years of practice, I have been inspired by people’s stories and their resilience in the face of enormous change and obstacles. I care tremendously about you feeling heard, understood, and valued. I believe it is perhaps the most important element in being able to reflect and grab hold of your own wisdom and solutions. I bring experience, warmth, creativity and an interactive style to the table and will walk alongside you providing respect, and non-judgmental support. Through years of clinical experience, I have found that problems can be best addressed and transformed by restoring hidden strengths and emotional resources. I am passionate about helping you through whatever critical junctures you are navigating: life and work transitions, relationship/family issues, grieving loss, understanding emotions, healing from early adversity and mistreatment. I see myself as a co-collaborator and not an expert on your life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

A common thread in my work is the conviction that people are inherently resourceful. I am careful to make space in my therapy conversations for the direct connections between daily personal experience and larger social issues that impact our lives. Throughout my career, I have sought to integrate both a public, community-based practice alongside my private practice. I also offer public workshops on social/personal issues and the arts and am the Founding Director of CommonChord Project, a summer institute for teens combining intergroup work, empathy development and songwriting. I also volunteer on an anti-trafficking hotline. One of my unique gifts is being “lyrically wired,” meaning I can typically bring a song to mind that speaks to any situation in the human condition. I love to incorporate music, poetry, and creativity into my work.
