My Background and Approach
I understand that my role is to help my clients find their way to a happier, more peaceful life and I consider it a privilege to be allowed to be a witness and a support on their journey. Education is just a part of what works in therapy, the other part is acceptance, humor and rapport. I work hard to establish that type of experience for my clients. My strengths include: Couples and family work, Individual issues, parenting, life change issues, religious and spiritual impacts on life choices, sexual orientation issues, depression and anxiety, adolescents/ including motivation and academic success, domestic violence, post traumatic stress, anger issues. I am also a teacher, writer and speaker.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
People sometimes struggle with the idea of going to see a counselor. Often it's difficult to know where to begin. Sometimes finding the right counselor can mean finding new hope, new choices--a new life. My task is to create a protected space so that you'll feel comfortable and safe. I listen carefully, objectively, with kindness and humor and without judgment. I respond with training, intuition, insight, honesty, and engage a variety of techniques to meet your presenting issue. I consider it a privilege that clients are willing to share their lives with me and I honor that trust.
