I enjoy working with couples because I observe both individual growth as well as the growth of the couple as a unit. This unit, in good conditions, is invaluable. A couple is greater than the sum of its parts. In bad circumstances, the opposite feels true. I pull from Sue Johnson's EFT lens to treat couples and I have found it to be very effective.

CBT is an empirically validated treatment approach that has helped those seeking therapy and can be used to treat a variety of issues. CBT is a straightforward treatment orientation and a relatively safe theoretical framework for any counselor to incorporate into an eclectic or integrative practice. I use interventions related to the CBT treatment orientation often.

EMDR is a remarkable and relatively new treatment modality that requires specific training. I have used EMDR with a substantial portion of my clients and the results have been overly positive. While there is always more to learn with any particular treatment orientation, this treatment orientation is notable in that it is especially standardized and often done best when following it's protocol.

A majority of my clinical experience is related to working for drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers. I am familiar with both 12-step and non 12 step approaches to working with disordered substance use.

I use trauma-informed practices and use an EMDR lens when working with individuals with a history of trauma. I opted to specialize in trauma while obtaining my MS in Counseling Psychology.

Effectively managing and coping with stress is a common presenting issue that I treat regularly. This is often done through both determining appropriate coping skills as well as assisting to resolve any core issues that may be the source of anxiety or stress.
