About My Clients
Folks who struggle with anxiety, depression and out of control or overwhelming emotions are my jam. I specialize in working with those who have chronic illness and also with polyamorous or polycurious folks in both individual and relationship therapy. I'm a skills-based therapist, so while I'm supportive like it's my job (because it literally is) I also want to help you understand why you do the things you do and guide you in changing what doesn't work for you.
My Background and Approach
I believe that all people should have access to quality health care and my work as a therapist is to that end. I also believe that therapy can be infinitely helpful, but that doesn't mean every therapist is a great fit for every person. Beyond modality approach, connecting well with a therapist cultivates the space for vulnerability - which is necessary for healing. I want to make sure that we're a good fit before starting that work, which is why I offer a free consultation. The therapeutic modalities I use are DBT, CBT, self-compassion and mindfulness strategies. I use these as a therapist because I use them as a client and know them to be effective. I think of myself as both a social worker and a therapist, which means my work also emphasizes resources available - both internal and external. If you want a therapist who affirms the things about you that other therapists may pinpoint as a problem, that's me.
