About My Clients
Some things I can help you or your child with include: learning how to reduce anxiety, panic, stress, and rumination; increasing awareness of your senses and the ability to activate your body's natural relaxation response; emotion regulation; boosting your focus and organization, addressing parenting concerns; gaining a deeper connection to yourself and others; and gaining a greater sense of meaning and purpose in life.
My Background and Approach
I believe that YOU are the expert in YOU, and will work collaboratively to draw from the treatment modalities I am trained in to meet your goals for yourself or your child. Working with me, you can expect sessions to include ways to approach life more mindfully, and tools for dealing with difficult emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. I emphasize evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness-based practices. I received my MA in Child and Adolescent Psychology and completed my training at an Intensive Outpatient Program for OCD and anxiety.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My primary role as a mental health counselor is to assess, diagnose, treat, and prevent mental illnesses. However, I also understand that every person is much more than their mental health. I incorporate elements of Buddhist philosophy into my practice in order to address the core assumption that all humans wish to be happy and free from suffering, and that everyone has the capacity for profound change. I have maintained a meditation practice for 25 years and come to the therapy space with a mix of respect for modern science and reverence for ancient knowledge. My practice is a welcome space for all on the journey toward mental wellness and I can't wait to hear from you!
