About My Clients
You worked hard to become a competent and successful person. Then, somehow, things started falling apart. Maybe it’s your relationships with spouse or kids, trouble sleeping, a health issue induced by stress, or lack of focus and drive. Maybe something terrible happened to you and you don't know how to move forward. Ultimately, we can work together to get all parts of your life in sync so you can focus on doing what you do best and being the best version of yourself.
My Background and Approach
I specialize in couples counseling, counseling professionals, and Christian counseling (for those who desire it), though I can help with many challenges from life changes to anxiety to depression. I've been trained in several approaches to therapy, so we can find what works best for you. With couples I use Emotionally Focused Therapy and/or Gottman, both of which are evidence based and have demonstrated effectiveness toward relationship satisfaction. With individuals, I often use Emotionally Focused Therapy, which helps you learn about the underlying factors that lead you to the behaviors, emotions, and relationships in your life and how to change them. Honestly, a lot of skills from other forms of therapy, like CBT, can be done through a workbook. I'm here to help with the things that you can't figure out through workbooks and youtube. We're going to get to the deep stuff driving your experiences so you can experience lasting change.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Challenges are going to hit all of us. It's how we respond that will make the difference. I have great respect for my clients because they chose, in the midst of a life challenge, to become better, to work toward becoming who they want to be. I also know that if it were simple, you could have figured it out yourself. It's not simple- that's why reaching out for help is such a great step. I will stick with you to sort things out and to use therapy as a place where you can become the person (or the couple) that you want to be. Choosing to do the work of therapy is an investment into yourself and/or your marriage that will pay exponential dividends for the rest of your life. For clients who want their Christian faith integrated in their therapy, I have special training to do that well. My research in spiritual abuse, training at a seminary, and ministry history have equipped me to competently and compassionately help you engage your faith as part of the counseling process.
