About My Clients
I specialize in working with individuals who experience trauma and anxiety related disorders, life transitions and live in high stress environments. Often, I meet with people who feel torn between who they are and who they want to be. They may experience guilt or shame from their past, and a need for perfectionism in the present. Many of my clients report feeling a disruption in their relationships, which often times stems from feeling unseen or unheard.
My Background and Approach
Over a decade ago, I began my dissent into working with individuals who experience trauma. As an intern with an intimate partner violence agency in Pennsylvania, I learned the basics of connecting with trauma survivors at the peer level. From there, I continued my education while always focusing on the body's response to trauma. I completed my undergraduate education at University of Maryland, College Park with a major in Sociology and a concentration in Stratification and Inequality. After completing my degree, I was accepted to Widener University's clinical social work program, where I continued to focus on trauma related disorders. After countless internships and work experience, I found myself drawn to a person centered approach and meeting people where they are. I believe that a good therapist allows their client to be the expert on their own experience. Recently, I am focusing my training on somatic interventions. After all, the body keeps the score.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I grew up in a mixed faith family. With a catholic mother and a jewish father, I have been told that guilt played a huge framework in my upbringing (as well as humor). Like most jewish families, there was a strong influence of social justice on my value system in my day to day life. So much so, that obtaining a sociology degree with a concentration in stratification and inequality was one of the easiest choices I've had to make.
