About My Clients
I especially enjoy working with LGBTQ+ and transgender clients, neurodivergent adults, and people who have spent a lot of time adapting themselves to meet other people's expectations. You might be questioning your identity, struggling with burnout or chronic stress, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself. Many of the people I work with are used to saying "I'm fine" when they aren't. They may be highly self-aware and have already become good at functioning but still feeling stuck.
My Background and Approach
My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and grounded in social work's person-in-environment perspective. I draw from Narrative Therapy, parts work, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and person-centered and strengths-based approaches. Rather than focusing only on reducing symptoms, I want to understand what those symptoms are communicating and how your experiences have shaped the ways you cope, relate to yourself, and move through the world. Together, we can build greater emotional flexibility, self-trust, and skills for creating a life that feels more aligned with who you are.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe therapy is inherently connected to the world we live in. Our mental health is shaped not only by what happens within us, but by our relationships, communities, identities, and the social systems around us. I don't believe people should have to adapt themselves to systems that are causing them harm, and I don't view therapy as separate from those realities. My work as an LGBTQ+ community center director is an important part of this perspective. I believe in creating spaces where LGBTQ+ people can build connection, access resources, experience joy, and advocate for themselves and their communities. I bring that same commitment to therapy: helping people understand the forces that have shaped them while supporting them in deciding what they want to keep, change, or challenge.
